Follow along through the challenges of fatherhood and fitness

Follow me as I grow as a father, continue to improve my fitness, and hopefully continue losing weight towards my goal of 60lbs (10lbs to go! 8.25.12).

I never set out to be overweight but I love beer, wine, scotch, and all sorts of terrible food. I didn't choose to get out of shape it just sort of happened. All that changed when I found out my wife was pregnant in December 2010. I decided it was time to set myself up to be a fitdad not a fatdad.

No one ever said it would be easy though. Dealing with a newborn and trying to continue exercising as well as being there for my wife as her husband and friend. As our son gets older and our family grows what impact will that have on my fitness and diet? Stay tuned to find out! Subscribe via email, or add me to your reader. Please make sure to share on twitter, facebook, or follow along by adding your email to my list.

Run Streak Day 10.

10 Days in I originally had the plan to run another distance run today in the 40 to 50 minute range.  After talking to a coworker Kristin we decided to have a family day at Moraine state park.

I got my run in this morning .25mile jogging warmup, .25mile jogging cooldown, and a 1 mile run in 7:40mg.

We packed up a picnic lunch and headed up to Moraine ready to relax by the lake and I was going to get some miles in on the bike with Mark.  We rode the rolling hills around the lake on the Moraine Triathlon course.  Total distance was around 7 miles in 28 minutes.  I surprisingly felt very good on the ride.  Seeing as this is the first time I have been out on the bike outside since the fall I was unsure how my legs would respond with only time spent on the bike trainer.  The hills (albeit slow for me is a pretty easy gear) were not as difficult as I thought they would be.   I definitely felt like I had more in my legs for the day but it was important for us to get back and spend some time with the wives and kiddos.

Still Streaking!!  (Hope all the fellow streakers out there are having a good time with it as well!)
