Here is the weekly update from my sisters blog page for the Streak. I was the slacker in the group...but as a whole we ran a total of 122.38 miles in one week! Impressive everyone!!
Here is my day 8 update:
-5:37am crying baby (teething pain) -Check!
-Headache? -check!
-Sore Throat -check!
-Phleghmy cough -check!
-Running shoes tied, ipod on, -check!, -check!
-Garmin watch...searching for signal...searching for signal...searching for signal. "Are you indoors?" -no. "have you moved more than 100m/km since your last workout?" -no. "are you sure you're not indoors?" -yes. searching for signal...searching for signal...searching for signal..."is it june 4th 2012?" -yes searching for signal...searching for signal...searching for signal....(at this point I should have already been finished with the run). Not paying attention to the watch once it had a signal I just pressed start (instead of resetting then starting)...so my watch just started timing off my last run. I had to do some mental math while running to make sure that I got my mile in.
-Going Streaking -check!
I hadn't planned on running more than the minimum one mile today to keep the streak alive, I am off (from work) Tues and Wed this week so those can be longer run days!
1.03 miles (same route as the other day) 7:58. Not too shabby, still would love to get that below 7...it's a goal and I will get the sub 7 minute mile again sometime soon!
It's amazing how early morning fresh air, some good tunes, and just me on the streets around my neighborhood can fade a headache and make that sore throat lose some ferocity.
Happy Running, thanks for reading!
Follow along through the challenges of fatherhood and fitness
Follow me as I grow as a father, continue to improve my fitness, and hopefully continue losing weight towards my goal of 60lbs (10lbs to go! 8.25.12).
I never set out to be overweight but I love beer, wine, scotch, and all sorts of terrible food. I didn't choose to get out of shape it just sort of happened. All that changed when I found out my wife was pregnant in December 2010. I decided it was time to set myself up to be a fitdad not a fatdad.
No one ever said it would be easy though. Dealing with a newborn and trying to continue exercising as well as being there for my wife as her husband and friend. As our son gets older and our family grows what impact will that have on my fitness and diet? Stay tuned to find out! Subscribe via email, or add me to your reader. Please make sure to share on twitter, facebook, or follow along by adding your email to my list.
